Oceania Team Championships 2017 Selection

Published 09 February 2017

ESNZ Eventing is seeking expressions of interest from combinations who wish to be considered for the New Zealand Senior and Young Rider Oceania teams. The 2017 Senior and Young Rider Oceania Teams Championship is taking place this year at the Melbourne International Three Day Event 8-12 June at Werribee Park.

Expressions of interest are required by Monday 20 February 2017 and are to be submitted on the applicable application form.

The Eventing Selectors will be taking into account a wide range of factors, including the competition performance record of the rider and the horse as a combination from 1 December 2015 with particular emphasis being placed on recent performances at FEI events across the Autumn Season.

Refer to the Selection Criteria for further detail.

A long list for both teams will be named following the South Island Three Day Event and the final two teams of 4 riders and horses, each with one non-travelling reserve, will be named prior to the NRM National Three Day Event. Selectors may require long listed combinations to compete at the Central Districts CIC 29-30 April to determine final selection.

The NRM National Three Day Event will not be a selection event and the senior team will compete at CIC3* level as their final run before Melbourne. The CIC3* class at the NRM National Three Day event will only be for the Senior team riders, there will not be a CIC2*.

It is likely that there will be up to two training camps that selected combinations will be required to attend – a training camp for the long listed squads in late April and a further training camp for the selected riders following Taupo.

ESNZ Eventing is unable to fully fund this tour and will therefore be seeking a financial contribution from each of the final 8 selected riders to a maximum value of $5000 in GST. Sponsorship and fundraising initiatives will take place over the Autumn Season to help minimise this contribution.

Prior to making an application, riders are asked to read the Selection Criteria.

Please forward your completed applications in electronic format to Eliza Riedel, eventing@nzequestrian.org.nz by Monday 20 February 2017.
