Our Approach

The new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 came into law on the 4th April 2016.

The act highlights the responsibilities of PCBUs (Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking).

This following document is to provide information that we have compiled from NZRA, WorkSafe NZ, Sport NZ and Council’s to share with user groups and affiliated groups of ESNZ.

HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES 2016 - INFORMATION FOR DISCIPLINE BOARDS, AREA GROUPS AND ORGANISING COMMITTEES

ESNZ'S PRIMARY PURPOSE

ESNZ's Primary Purpose is to ensure that staff, volunteers, participants and spectators involved in Equestrian Sport NZ competitions understand their obligations and duty of care, that ESNZ supports them to meet their obligations wherever possible and works with them to ensure everyone goes home safely.

ORGANISATIONS THAT SANCTION EVENTS RUN BY 'ASSOCIATED PARTIES' ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE

Organisations will have to ensure 'so far as is reasonably practicable' the health and safety, not only of their own workers, but of associated parties' workers who they 'influence' or direct.  Sport NZ's legal advisers have provided some advice on this issue.
