Todd Finishes Fourth at Gatcombe

Mark Todd and Kiltubrid Rhaposdy have finished in fourth place at the 5th leg of the Event Riders Masters (ERM) held at Gatcombe Park as part of the Festival of British Eventing.

“I’m really happy, the horse as gone very well in all three phases” said Todd after cross country.

Todd produced a clean jumping round on the challenging terrain of the Gatcombe cross country course though picked up 15.2 time penalties.  “He probably wasn’t quite as fit as I would have liked him to tackle this course but he has gone really really well and I’m delighted to be fourth”

The pair was in 3rd place after showjumping where they incurred 2 time penalties. Though the time penalties incurred on cross country proved costly slipping them back to fourth.

Todd will now aim Kiltubrid Rhapsody toward the 6th round of the Event Riders Masters to be held at Blair Castle toward the end of August. Todd expects Kiltubrid Rhapsody to be a fitter horse by then and will look to challenge for the top spot.

The only other kiwi combination in the ERM was Tim Price and Xavier Faer who elected to retire on cross country after picking up 7 penalties in the showjumping.

Great Britain’s Gemma Tattersall riding the former racehorse, Arctic Soul, produced a masterclass to take out the top honours. After a very quick cross country round where she jumped clear and added just 1.2 time penalties to finish on a winning score of 53.7.
