Sir Mark Todd and Tim Price are the only two Kiwis chasing the cash-rich Event Rider Masters Series at the Jardy International Eventing Show this weekend in France.

Todd, buoyed by his podium finish in leg three at Barbury, will compete aboard NZB Campino, while Price lines up on Ascona M.

It’s a star-studded field at the Saturday-Sunday event, with world number one Michael Jung (GER) and Fischerrocana FST leading the way. Also on the 40-strong card are Maxime Livio (FRA), Karin Donckers (BEL), Oli Townend (GBR) and Bettina Hoy (GER).

The fourth leg of the series is being held at Haras de Jardy, a stud set in 75 hectares of magnificent parkland, mixed meadows and woodlands.

The architecture of its centuries-old stables and indoor riding school complement the natural beauty of the surrounding and the extensive modern equestrian sport facilities make Haras de Jardy an exciting new venue for the Event Rider Masters series.

Kiwi Andrew Bennie is a judge at this weekend’s event. The dressage gets under way on Saturday, with the showjumping and cross country on Sunday.

All competitors will be chasing valuable points in the seven leg series. Thomas Carlile (FRA) – last week’s winner at Barbury – is missing from the line-up but leads the points tally on 56, with Andrew Nicholson third on 50, Todd in 10th on 26 and Price in 17th on 21.
