Foxton hosted the Euro Trailers Ltd Wellington Horowhenua Jumping & Show Hunter Championships this weekend which saw good entries and some fierce competition. Sophie Scott kept up her good form with yet another Property Brokers Horse Grand Prix (kindly supported by Euro Trailers Ltd) win aboard the ever consistent Waitangi Skynet. She also placed 3rd on Benrose Stellar with Brooke Edgecombe slotting in between in second place with LT Holst Andrea.
Sophie was thrilled with both of her horses, and said “it was a really nice and inviting Grand Prix track and the jump off was super fun and competitive. Being back down in the old ring one made for good watching with the trucks parked on the ringside. Foxton turned on the sunshine and the Wellington Horowhenua committee always put on a very well run show which we love attending”.
Anna Wilson & Redcliffs Bill were the fastest of the double clears in the AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix (kindly supported by Barlovska Craft Liqueurs), finishing ahead of Emily Oliver & Doctor Jones.
Lucy Fell & the spicy Faratona STS are having a super run, picking up another win in the Harrison Lane Pro Am (kindly supported by Vets on Riverbank). Jillian Watson carried on her winning form from her double win last weekend, taking the top spot in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider (kindly supported by The Brave Pants Co Ltd) with the lovely OhMyHolly.
The FMG Young Rider (kindly supported by Versatile Homes) saw a Double J whitewash. Kimberley Carrington won the class with her lovely stallion, Double J Typhoon – who also had his first Grand Prix start for a respectable 4 faults – second place went to Penny Borthwick on Double J Breeze On, and third to Sam Carrington & Double J Hurricane.
Tara Gower continued the Double J Stud’s winning form by taking out the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider (kindly supported by Nayton Mitchell Equestrian) with Double J Image. Tara was also victorious in the NZPH & A1 Equine Reproduction 7 Year Olds with Sue Gower’s Riverhills Legend (Euro Sport Centavos x Destiny/Ranfurly).
The East Coast Performance Horses 5 Year Old class saw three combinations share the prize money.

The Equitek Excel 6 Year Olds also saw numerous combinations jumping double clears.
-Logan Massie & the East Coast Performance Horses bred Gladiator ECPH (Grand Slam VDL x Pheobe Nimmerdor/ Ephebe For Ever).
- Sam Carrington & the Double J Stud’s Double J Jean Jeanie (Double J Repicharge x On Tune NZPH/ Fetiche du Pas)
- Kimberly Carrington & the Double J Stud’s Double J Saga (Euro Sport Centavos x Double J Barmaid/ Double J Repicharge).
- Brooke Edgecombe & Inca NZPH (Up to You x Cinnamon NZPH/ Pezetas du Rouet).
Meanwhile, in the South Island was the SCNO Championship Show. Jessica Hore & Tallyho Scoundrel’s 4 fault effort was good enough to take out the AMS Saddlery Pony Grand Prix (kindly supported by Fill Rural). In the same fashion, Nic Grant & Goldfinch GNZ. (Eurocommerce Pennsylvania x LS Dream On/ Distlefink) took out the NZPH & A1 Equine Reproduction 7 Year Olds (kindly supported by Stable Solutions). The Golden Grove Stud had another winner in the Dunstan Horsefeeds Amateur Rider (kindly supported by PL Performance Horses). The class had huge entries with Emma Wyatt & Sazerac GNZ finishing at the top of an eleven horse jump off.
While Molly Buist Brown and Hashtag FOMO were the sole double clear in the Harrison Lane Pro Am (kindly supported by Animal Therapeutics), the double clears came in thick and fast in the Mainland Coachwork Junior Rider and the FMG Young Rider (kindly supported by Meadowlands Farm). Both classes had four combinations go clear and fast in the jump off, with Emma Gillies and Benrose Black Jack being the fastest Junior Rider, and Johanna Wylaars and Cassera MS stopped the clock some 3 seconds quicker than their rivals in the Young Rider.
