Jonelle Price, Clarke Johnstone and Sam Lissington have all made the podium at the Millstreet International Horse Trials which finished in Ireland this morning. Jonelle and Chilli’s Midnight Star were third in the CCI4*-L, Sam and Mr Cookie Time took out the CCI2*-L, Clarke and Aces High were second in the CCI3*-S, and Sam took the quinella in the CCIYH2*-S with Nadal and Never Know Mb.

The 19-strong CCI4*-L field was whittled down to 12 for the showjumping phase where Jonelle’s clear and inside time effort saw them finish on 54.4 penalty points. The class was won by Sam Watson (IRL) and Ballyneety Rocketman on 44.4. Caroline Powell and High Time placed 10th.

Jonelle was the best of the Kiwis in the CCIO4*-NC-S, placing 10th aboard McClaren on 36.1. The Aussie individuals held the top two slots albeit with a bit of shuffling, with Christopher Burton and Shadow Man leading from the start to take the class on their 25.7 dressage score. Kevin McNab and Scuderia 1918 A Best Friend came up to fill second on 30. Hollie Swain and Ballycoskerry Regal Diamond were 12th on 37 with Dan Jocelyn and Blackthorn Cruise 15th on 37.5. Forty-seven of the original 59 starters completed all three tests.

The FEI Nations Cup class went to Ireland on 110.2 with the United States second on 113.7 and Australia third on 114,.2. New Zealand were fifth on 121.7.

Jonelle was the only Kiwi in the CCI3*-L, placing sixth aboard Full Monty de Lacense on a score of 40.5, with another clear and inside time in the showjumping to finish off. The 25-strong class was won by Sam Ecroyd (GBR) aboard Bloomfield Manuscript who led from the get-go and finished on 31.9.

Clarke and Aces High finished the CCI3*-S on 34.5 with winner Sam Ecroyd (GBR) and Chapel House on 29.6. Sam Lissington and Delarado were 11th on 46.1 with Caroline Powell and Tik Tok on 52.2. The class attracted 49 combinations.

Sam Lissington and Mr Cookie Time also led from the start in the CCI2*-L, finishing on 27 penalty points to take the win in the 38-strong class. Hollie Swain was the only other New Zealander in the class, finishing on 41.8 aboard Jumbelissa.

Sam was always handy in the CCIYH2*-S, moving into one and two after the showjumping and holding on through the cross country for final tallies of 29.9 and 30.4.
